One of the joys of grant writing is learning about new subjects, services and information providers and working with interesting teams of people. Some of the highlights of my work in 2011 included bio energy projects, a campground and a recycling programme paired with closure of a solid waste site.
In the latter project, through friends, I had the opportunity to learn about, and connect with, the University of Victoria’s Department of Geography’s Community Based Research Lab (CBRL) led by Dr. Jutta Gutberlet.
The team at the CBRL introduced me to a whole new world of thinking about reducing, recycling and especially– reusing. If you’re working on a waste management or recycling project, you might want to have a look at Dr. Gutberlet’s book Recovering Resources—Recycling Citizenship or view the CBRL’s Canadian and international projects.
Thank you CBRL!
